#1 San Antonio Spurs (42-8)

The Spurs have been one of those few teams in the NBA that have been able to stand the test of time. No matter how old their stars get or how many years pass by, San Antonio is always a legitimate title contender and this season is no different as they appear to be the best team in the league.

#2 Dallas Mavericks (35-15)

The Mavs are always one of the best teams in the league during the NBA regular season, but no matter how talented this team looks, they fall apart in the playoffs. This season the same thing may happen, but they looked pretty good after getting the best of the Boston Celtics.

Even though they are sitting pretty right now, the Mavs may be looking to make a deal before the trade deadline.

#3 Boston Celtics (38-12)

Despite everyone waiting for the Boston Celtics to finally starting showing signs of aging, they just seem to get better with every passing game. Even though they did lose to the Dallas Mavericks recently, I believe this Boston Celtics team is arguably the best in the Eastern Conference and could be headed to their third NBA Finals appearance in four years.

#4 Miami Heat (37-14)

The Miami Heat may be a couple of years away from dominating the best of the best in the NBA, but they are playing really well at this point in time and will have their three superstars (LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) representing the Eastern Conference in the 2011 NBA All-Star game in Los Angeles.

This team could very well be NBA Finals bound, but I just don’t think they can hang with the Boston Celtics just yet.

#5 Chicago Bulls (34-15)

Coming into this NBA regular season, the Chicago Bulls were considered to be an improved basketball team with the addition of forward Carlos Boozer, but no one really knew how good this team would be against the best of the best in the Eastern Conference.

Fortunately, things have worked out well in the Windy City as Derrick Rose is a legitimate candidate for NBA MVP and could lead his team deep into the playoffs.

#6-10 Los Angeles Lakers (35-16), Oklahoma City Thunder (33-17), New Orleans Hornets (32-20), Orlando Magic (32-20), Memphis Grizzlies (27-25)
