The Utah Jazz has been consistently one of the best teams in the Western Conference with a legitimate shot of being bound for the NBA Finals every single season. One of the main reasons for the success of the Jazz has been their coaching. With NBA legend Jerry Sloan calling the shots on the sidelines for the last 23 years, the Utah Jazz have reaped the benefits and are always considered a force to be reckoned with.

Obviously, a head coach running the show for an NBA franchise can’t last forever and just a few weeks ago the Hall of Fame head coach decided to call it quits after a dustup with his superstar point guard Deron Williams during halftime in a loss to the Chicago Bulls.

With Sloan stepping down, the Jazz have started to look much different and losing has become common. Ironically enough, Sloan was just the first of many drastic changes for the Jazz as shortly after the retirement of arguably one of the greatest NBA head coaches of all-time, Utah decided to trade their best player.

It could be argued that Deron Williams is the best point guard in the league today. With an ability to beat opposing teams in many different ways, Williams is a multiple threat on the basketball floor and one of the most respected young players in this game.

Unfortunately, his stay in Utah is officially over as the Jazz have decided to trade the two-time All-Star to the New Jersey Nets. In exchange for the Williams, the Jazz will receive point guard Devin Harris, rookie forward Derrick Favors and two first-round draft picks in 2012.

Not a bad trade for both teams, but the Nets could be some serious trouble if they can’t convince Deron Williams to re-sign with the team when he becomes a free agent. We don’t anticipate this trade having a huge impact at the spread this week for online sportsbooks, but we will let you know if there are any significant changes.
