The NBA Finals between the archrivals in the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics will begin this Thursday in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, but in the meantime the Celtics are licking their wounds as they have two key players trying to recover from injuries sustained in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic.

During these NBA playoffs, arguably the most important player for the Boston Celtics has been All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. Even though he was considered one of the best point guards in the league coming into the postseason, he is taking it to another level throughout the playoffs as these just dominated on both sides of the basketball floor.

Unfortunately for the Celtics, Rondo has been suffering from back spasms recently and went down hard on his back in the clinching game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Even though the fall during game six against the Orlando Magic look severe to say the least, Rondo should still be ready for game one of the NBA Finals this Thursday, but he has been limited in practice.

Another key player for the Boston Celtics heading into the NBA finals is veteran forward Rasheed Wallace who also sustained a back injury against the Orlando Magic in the Eastern conference finals. The injury wasn’t bad enough to keep him out any time against the magic, but he is also been limited in practice and head coach Doc Rivers thinks he will need the entire week to get back to form.

Obviously, Rajon Rondo is the major concern here as he is arguably the best player on the Boston Celtics right now and a vital piece to the puzzle and in my opinion if he isn’t a 100% in the Finals, the Lakers will have a clear advantage in this series.
