Thursday night, the 2010 NBA Draft came and went and while a lot of the players went just as we originally expected them to, a lot of players did not.  There were plenty of shockers to go around for everyone.  Let’s take a look at some of these surprises that left us with curiosity while the teams were drafting and trading players.

Andy Rautins – This Syracuse product went to the New York Knicks at number 38 overall in the draft.  This guy wasn’t expected to go at all by many scouts so it was an unbelievable and surprising choice to say the least.  While he can play the court persistently and is consistent with long-range shots, he still has a long way to go to make it in the NBA.

Landry Fields – Another one goes to the Knicks – this one from Stanford.  He was as much of a shock as, if not more than, Rautins.  While this guy is tall at 6-foot-7 and has superior shooting abilities, his full skill set is questionable.  Between the two draft picks from the Knicks, only one of them will find themselves on the active roster and that is just best case scenario.

Kevin Seraphin (pictured) – Serpahin was originally picked at the number 17 overall by the Chicago Bulls but was later traded to the Washington Wizards as part of the trade of Kirk Hinrich.  Seraphin is a French import so there are obviously concerns with him transitioning well into the NBA game.  Being acquired at number 17 was the shock because no one really expected him to go so early, mainly due to being an import; however, he’ll probably be able to set his foot in the ground in Washington, create some static on defense and hopefully improve his offensive game to become a solid player in the NBA.
