Super Bowl XLV is just days away and the media coverage has gotten to fever pitch at this point with the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers being surrounded with media attention 24/7.

Even though a lot is being made about the battle of the quarterbacks in this Super Bowl matchup with Aaron Rodgers going head-to-head with Ben Roethlisberger, the defense of the Packers and the Steelers is what will steal the show on Super Bowl Sunday as Clay Matthews and Troy Polamalu try to lead their team to victory. The stage is set for Super Bowl XLV as the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will head to Arlington, Texas to battle it out in a winner take out matchup that could go down as yet another epic showdown on the biggest stage in the NFL.

As usual, getting tickets to the big game is no easy task and as expensive as any sporting event in this country, but even if you are lucky enough to afford and buy a ticket to Super Bowl XLV, you might be in for a surprise when you try and park near Cowboys Stadium on Feb. 6. Continue Reading…

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL for quite some time now, but they ever since they drafted versatile quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this team has always had a shot at making it all the way to the Super Bowl every single season.

Coming into these NFL playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers had won the AFC North division title and clinched a first-round bye, but they had to face the division rival Baltimore Ravens in their first playoff game. Even though the Steelers were considered to be amongst the best teams in the league, they had their hands full against the Ravens. Continue Reading…

NFC Championship Game: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 3pm EST

The NFC North division is about as competitive as it gets in the NFL today as two to three teams within the division are more than capable of winning the division title and possibly contending for Super Bowl title.

This season was a perfect example of that as both the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears have been able to defy the odds and make it all the way to the NFC Championship game. Not only is it fitting that these two teams within the same division were able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game, but both teams made it their goal this season to be one another in order to judge the success of the year. There are four teams left in contention for trip to the Super Bowl right now, but I believe the their only two teams worthy of going the distance with the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers being my prediction for the Super Bowl match-up in Arlington, Texas in February.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears are two very talented football teams that pride themselves on the defensive side of the football, but in terms of heart, motivation and being considered the underdog throughout the entire playoffs, the Packers and the Jets get the edge in my book. The New York Jets have become known as a scrappy football team with a lot of players and a head coach that like to talk trash. Not only do they talk a lot of trash, but they back it up with a lockdown defense and a much improved offense led by second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Coming into the NFL playoffs, Rex Ryan and company had the odds against them as they were set to face off against four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning and the high powered offense of the Indianapolis Colts. Even though the New York Jets have arguably one of the best defenses in the league, the Peyton Manning and his boys were favored to come out on top in this Wild-card matchup as they have played as good as any team in the league in the playoffs. NFC Divisional Round: Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons Sat. Jan. 15th 2011 8pm EST

The Atlanta Falcons have been known as a very talented young team over the past couple of years, but it wasn’t until this season that they have started to become considered to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.

With Matt Ryan playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Roddy White performing like a Pro Bowl wide receiver and running back Michael Turner having one of his best years as a pro, the Atlanta Falcons have been firing on all cylinders this season and seem to have a legitimate shot at playing in Arlington, Texas next month. About a year ago, one of the most anticipated matchups in the NBA was the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers going head to head against arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference in LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. This season that is not the case as ever since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach, the Cavs have gone head first into downward spiral that has turned them into arguably the worst team in the league. There is no lack of division rivalries in the NFL and the entertainment factor can be huge, but these heated rivalries get even better when they carry on into the playoffs.

After a thrilling Wild-card weekend which played host to three extremely entertaining football games that came down to the wire in the fourth quarter, the Divisional round is poised to be even better with two games between bitter division rivals. Continue Reading…
