Known right now as the world’s number 3 ranked golfer, Lee Westwood has withdrawn from the Bridgestone Invitational, which is being held in Akron, Ohio, and will not attend and play in the PGA Championship next week. Westwood, from England, has suffered an injury to his right calf, which is affecting his ability to play in these two events.
During his playing time on Thursday, the England golfer was 1-over par and 6-over par on Friday. Earlier this year, Westwood was a runner-up at both the Masters and the Open. He first suffered an injury to his calf during the first week of July at the French Open. On the outskirts of Houston in The Woodlands at The Club at Carlton Woods, Tony Romo, quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys was qualifying to compete in the U.S. Open. Romo was playing in the accompany of both Dustin Wigington and Thomas Hagler and will be playing a total of 36 holes.
Romo was attempting to get a one of two sports that 35 other individuals are trying to acquire. This morning at 10:30 a.m., the air horns sounded which halted play after five holds with Romo two over par. As previously reported, Tiger Woods withdrew his participation in the last round from the Players Championship event on Sunday due to having pain in his neck. He had been coping with the pain for a while before the Players Championship but was unable to cope any longer. He originally believed that the pain that he was having in his neck was from a bulging disk.
Woods had a MRI scheduled, which thankfully showed that he had inflammation in a facet joint in his neck. This is what was causing him such pain. As for recovery, Woods will have to participate in physical therapy on a regular basis. Continue Reading…
As if Tiger Woods hasn’t already had enough going on in his life over the course of the past several months, he now has another problem upon him. Woods had to suddenly withdraw from the Players Championship Sunday due to pain his neck, which he is predicting and fearing may be a bulging disk.

It appears that the Players Tournament this week will be one without golfer Anthony Kim. He was required to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury to his left thumb.
For the last month or so, Kim has been trying his hardest to manage with this thumb injury and he told various reporters at Quail Hollow, where he finished sixth overall in the tournament, that he was looking for the proper time to undergo surgery to try to be able to participate in as many tournaments as possible. The PGA Tour second event this season, the Quail Hollow Championship, has commenced and Tiger Woods has gotten off to a great start early this morning in the first round of the Championship. It was a bit chilly to begin with this morning but Woods hasn’t let the weather affect his playing ability thus far.
He started off with a birdie for the 10th hole at par-5; however, he quickly made up for that two holes afterward with a bogey. He was approximately fifty yards from the green.
