Last season the Duke Blue Devils (1) were able to defy the odds and make it all the way to the National Championship to win yet another NCAA title under Coach K. This season the Blue Devils were thought to be a good team, but not a great team as many people believed they didn’t have what it takes to compete with the best of the best in college basketball. Sweet 16: BYU Cougars (3) vs. Florida Gators (2) Thurs. March 24, 2011 7:27 p.m. EST

Throughout the entire college basketball season and heading into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the BYU Cougars (3) have become relevant once again with leading scorer Jimmer Fredette lighting up the scoreboard every single night. Even though the Cougars have received some criticism throughout the season as they aren’t that great a team without Fredette leading the way, but he might be talented enough to lead them to a National Championship this season. Sweet 16: UConn Huskies (3) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (2) Thurs. March 24, 2011 7:15 p.m. EST

Coming into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the UConn Huskies (3) were arguably the most entertaining college basketball team in the country as they had won five straight games in dramatic fashion in order to win the Big East tournament. With Jim Calhoun trying to win another NCAA title and the Huskies having one of the best all-around players in the country in high scoring guard Kemba Walker, UConn (3) looks like they have a legitimate shot of going the distance in the Big Dance. The NCAA Tournament has become incredibly popular over the years due to the fact that anything can happen and with any team in the NCAA Tournament having a legitimate shot at winning the tournament. No matter how good teams may be or what kind of predictions that are made about the best teams in the country coming into this tournament, every team starts at zero and the upset watch begins.

Even though most people find it extremely difficult to predict upsets in the NCAA Tournament that is exactly why it is called March Madness. Last season the biggest underdog that continued to defy the odds throughout the entire 2010 NCAA Tournament was the Butler Bulldogs. Despite no one really giving this team any chance of competing with the best of the best in the tournament, the Bulldogs stayed strong and made it all the way to the National Championship to take on the Duke Blue Devils.

Coach K’s squad ultimately came out on top in the tournament and won yet another NCAA title, but the Bulldogs took the game down to the wire and almost sealed the deal with a last second shot from half court. Unfortunately, the shot came up just short, but it did prove that any team can compete in the NCAA Tournament.

This season the Butler Bulldogs have done it again as they have pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the 2011 NCAA Tournament with a win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in the third round. Even though the Panthers were considered to be one of the best all-around teams in this tournament and were given a number one seed, but they weren’t able to get the best of the eighth seed in the Butler Bulldogs.

Now the Butler Bulldogs will head-to-head the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season and will face off against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The online sportsbook odds for the Sweet Sixteen VCA FSU matchup are:

Bodog Sportsbook:

Every single year in the NCAA Tournament, there is one or two teams that steal the spotlight as they’re able to defy the odds consistently and pull off upset after upset over the highest seeds in the tourney. This season the VCU Rams (11) is one of those teams as they have been unbelievable in the first three rounds of the 2011 NCAA Tournament as they have been arguably one of the most dominant teams during March Madness with three straight wins over the USC Trojans, Georgetown Hoyas and the Purdue Boilermakers. Illinois Fighting Illini (9) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (1) Sun. March 20, 2011 8:40 p.m. EST

Last season the Kansas Jayhawks (1) came into the NCAA Tournament as one of the favorites to go all the way to the Final Four and quite possibly win a National Championship once again in the Bill Self era. Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case as arguably the best college basketball team in the country fell to Northern Iowa in the second round and became the biggest disappointment in the tournament. Marquette Golden Eagles (11) vs. Syracuse Orangemen (3) Sun. March 20, 2011 7:45 p.m. EST

Last season the Syracuse Orangemen (3) were playing some superb basketball headed into the NCAA Tournament, but then just couldn’t hang with the best of the best in the Big Dance and were knocked a bit sooner than anticipated. This season the Orangeman are playing at a high level once again and despite all the stiff competition coming out of the Big East conference with 11 teams punching their tickets to the 2011 NCAA Tournament, Jim Boeheim’s squad was able to wrap up a third seed in the East Region. Coming into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the Purdue Boilermakers (3) and the VCU Rams (11) were two completely different college basketball teams with two completely different outlooks for this tournament. Arizona Wildcats (5) vs. Texas Longhorns (4) Sun. March 20, 2011 6:10 p.m. EST

Coming into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the Texas Longhorns (4) were considered to be a serious force to be reckoned with in college basketball as they had the tools and the talented to make a run in the tournament. Even though they are just the four seed in the extremely competitive West Region, the Longhorns are as good as any team in their region and will look to prove that as they continue to play a solid brand of basketball.
