Goa Assembly election exit poll results 2017

10 March 2017

After over two months of gruelling campaigning through the state, political parties who are contesting in the seven-phased, three-cornered battle are eagerly waiting for the exit poll predictions which will be announced today at 5.30 pm. While the actual results will not be out till Saturday, the exit polls usually (though not always) can be an indicator of which party will storm to power.

The results of exit polls on Thursday by various agencies have confirmed the widespread feeling that the voter sentiment is still in the favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party could emerge as the single-largest party in three of five states.

In an interview to BBC radio, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav gave an indication that if the situation calls for it then Samajwadi Party will not shy away from holding BSP's hand for an alliance.

No party is likely to get a clear majority.

The BSP supremo has not yet reacted to SP's overtures. For this he blamed both the ruling BJP-SAD and the Congress.

Times Now's exit poll gives the BJP a sharp edge over its rivals by projecting its win between 190 and 210 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Impax Laboratories (NASDAQ:IPXL) Edged Up 2.20% Premarket Trade
Finally, Charlemagne Capital Ltd. increased its position in shares of Impax Laboratories by 42.8% in the second quarter. FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ:FEYE) share price decreased in the last trading session with a previous 52-week high of $19.63.

The News24-Chanakya survey gave nine seats to the ruling alliance and put the Congress and AAP neck and neck at 54 seats each. The IndiaTV-CVoter polls forecast 155-167 seats to the BJP, 135-147 to the SP-Congress and 81-93 to the BSP.

India TV-CVoter: BJP likely to finish on top in Manipur. CNN-News18-Gramener projected 25 seats for the BJP and 24 for the Congress.

The states' election results are set to be declared tomorrow. The exit polls may not have predicted Congress to come close to BJP, but they are giving the opposition party around 15 seats or so.

The hardest part of putting together polls in India is finding a way to take estimated vote shares, which are relatively easier to sample, and turn those into projected seat shares. One poll showed the BJP clearing the halfway mark of 202 seats, reported NDTV. Others will possibly win 9-15 seats.

The results of the exit polls for Goa do not predict a clear victor for the recently held Assembly elections in the state.

Two other polls, including the one that forecast Modi winning a majority in the 2014 national elections, expect Modi's party to sweep to power in a decisive victory.
