Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers Sun. Dec. 5th 2010 4:05pm EST
Coming into Week 13, the AFC West division is seemingly up for grabs as the defending division champion San Diego Chargers, division-leading Kansas City Chiefs and the underdog Oakland Raiders all have a chance to win the division at season’s end, but this weekend might be the Raiders’ last chance at contending for the division title as they will go up against a red-hot Chargers team.
Not only are the San Diego Chargers coming off their most impressive win of the season against the Indianapolis Colts, but they have won four straight games and seem to be getting some much needed momentum moving forward as they have gotten back to their winning ways once again.
The Oakland Raiders on the other hand can’t say the same as they have lost two straight to the Pittsburgh Steelers (35-3) and the Miami Dolphins (33-17) coming into Week 13 and may be losing that confidence they had earlier in the season.
Obviously, there is still a lot of football to be played and the Oakland Raiders were able to get the best of their division rivals in Week 5 (35-27), but this San Diego Chargers team has turned the corner and will be looking to beat their hated rivals in convincing fashion this time around.
As of right now, the San Diego Chargers are big favorites to come out on top in this AFC West showdown with a -12.5 point spread. Even though I believe that NFL MVP candidate quarterback Philip Rivers and company are more than capable of putting a beating on their division rivals, the Raiders have been a pretty resilient team this season and won’t go down without a fight.
With that being said, I believe taking the Oakland Raiders at +12.5 with this weeks NFL football betting action would be the smart choice.
