In less than two weeks (March 8), the Indianapolis Colts and superstar quarterback Peyton Manning will have to make a decision that will forever change the franchise and could drastically change the quarterback position for another team in the NFL. The Colts have already openly told Manning that the future of the franchise is rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (Stanford) and that he wants to stay they will need to restructure his contract.
These demands are nothing more than reality of an aging quarterback that has gone through four neck surgeries in the past year. At this point in time, there is no telling whether or not the four-time NFL MVP can play at the same dominant level that he once did with the Colts over his Hall of Fame caliber career, but there are plenty of teams in dire need of a franchise quarterback that would love the chance to sign him even with the injury risk.
One team that has recently been dubbed the frontrunner for Peyton Manning if he is ultimately released by the Indianapolis Colts is the Seattle Seahawks. Ever since the departure of veteran gunslinger Matt Hasselback, the Seahawks have been awful at the quarterback position and depended solely on running back Marshawn Lynch to carry the load on the offensive side of the football.
Obviously, the Colts still have to release Manning in order for this free agent speculation to continue. As of right now though, the Seattle Seahawks seem to be seriously interested in the superstar quarterback if he ultimately cut by Indianapolis. The New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and the Washington Redskins are also team said to be interested in the one-time Super Bowl champion if things can’t be worked out with the Colts.
