We just got through going through three of the biggest surprises of Thursday night’s 2010 NBA Draft but there is more.  While this will be the second and final installment of the biggest surprises, there are plenty other shockers that were out there besides the ones listed in these two articles.  However, in my opinion, these are some of the biggest surprises.

Devin Ebanks (pictured) – This one wasn’t expected to go as late as he did but kept falling down the board as another player was called.  Ebanks was finally chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers at the number 43 pick overall.  Why such a shocker?  Ebanks was ranked as one of the draft’s best defenders but likely slipped in the draft due to the lack of development in his offensive abilities.

Soloman Alabi – This man was the draft’s tallest player so you’d think he wouldn’t be on the surprise list, right?  Especially since he is a great on the defensive side of the court and can block some shots skillfully.  However, Alabi didn’t go until the number 50 pick overall at which time the Raptors drafted him.  So, why so late?  More than likely, he slipped down the board due to conditioning concerns.  If he can get out there and show people there is no reason for concern, he’ll have a hell of a NBA career at his height.

Gordon Hayward – This isn’t just a huge surprise but most mock drafts and scouts had this guy going somewhere between 13 and 19 but he made it into the top ten draft picks Thursday night being drafted by the Utah Jazz.  Out of Butler, Hayward definitely has the capability of making shots from decent range and size to make it in the NBA successfully; however, he will need to work on some aspects of athleticism.  He’ll also need to start developing and improving his long-range shooting capacities.  If he can master that, he’ll be set for gold in the NBA.
