Uruguay advanced to the 2010 World Cup quarter finals this past Saturday when they won the match against South Korea with the final score being in their favor 2-1. Uruguay will now face Ghana in the quarter finals this Friday in Johannesburg.
However, someone won’t be able to make the lineup and make an appearance on the field for this match on Friday. One of the central defenders for Uruguay will not find his name on the roster – Diego Godin. It was actually the game against South Korea, the second round of the match, which sparked the thigh injury for Godin. Continue Reading…
The World Cup has been going on for a few weeks now and we have finally reached the quarter finals of the tournament. So, what teams made it and whom did they beat out to get there? Let’s take a look.
One of the latest finalists to move into the quarter finals was Ghana. Ghana was able to successfully beat out the USA team this past Saturday evening. They couldn’t have done it without the extra time, of course, but they still beat out the USA 2-1. Ghana will find themselves up against Uruguay in the quarter finals on July 2 in Johannesburg. Uruguay was able to successfully beat out South Korea on Saturday 2-1 to advance. Continue Reading…
We just got through going through three of the biggest surprises of Thursday night’s 2010 NBA Draft but there is more. While this will be the second and final installment of the biggest surprises, there are plenty other shockers that were out there besides the ones listed in these two articles. However, in my opinion, these are some of the biggest surprises.
Devin Ebanks (pictured) – This one wasn’t expected to go as late as he did but kept falling down the board as another player was called. Ebanks was finally chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers at the number 43 pick overall. Why such a shocker? Ebanks was ranked as one of the draft’s best defenders but likely slipped in the draft due to the lack of development in his offensive abilities. Continue Reading…
Thursday night, the 2010 NBA Draft came and went and while a lot of the players went just as we originally expected them to, a lot of players did not. There were plenty of shockers to go around for everyone. Let’s take a look at some of these surprises that left us with curiosity while the teams were drafting and trading players.
Andy Rautins – This Syracuse product went to the New York Knicks at number 38 overall in the draft. This guy wasn’t expected to go at all by many scouts so it was an unbelievable and surprising choice to say the least. While he can play the court persistently and is consistent with long-range shots, he still has a long way to go to make it in the NBA. Continue Reading…
In this year’s 2010 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors were up for their sixth overall pick of the night and passed up on some great opportunities when they chose Baylor’s Ekpe Udoh.
Now, don’t get me wrong, Udoh is a great player and without doubt a decent prospect in the draft this year, but he could have very well went later in the draft had the Warrior’s decided to not choose him with their sixth pick. In addition, there were several other fine prospects that would have been great additions to the Warrior’s, not counting that there were several good ones a couple years younger than Udoh. Thursday night for the 2010 NBA Draft, the Timberwolves had the number four overall pick of the night this past week. They were hoping to acquire a wing player or someone that could help improve the talent capacity of their perimeter. They got just what they wanted and were absolutely ecstatic when their turn came and forward Wesley Johnson was still available for choosing.
23-year-old Johnson showed some very impressive talent and playing abilities when he transferred from Iowa State to Syracuse. Johnson is definitely one of those guys that you look at and know he has great potential ahead of him in the NBA. Continue Reading…
Thursday night was an eventful night for many and the third pick of the night came from the New Jersey Nets choosing Derrick Favors out of Georgia Tech.
The New Jersey Nets needed to find some of the best players to pick in the draft selection Thursday night. They recorded an all-time worst in the league this past season with a record of 12-70, which proves that the Nets need to add some depth to every part of their team and add strength as well as skill to each and every playing position. Saturday’s game between the USA and Ghana was a knockout round – round of 16. One team would proceed to the Finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup while one team would head home disappointed. This year, for a second consecutive time, the USA was eliminated from this year’s World Cup by Ghana.
Ghana beat out the USA Saturday night 2-1. In just the fifth minute of the match, Kevin Prince Boateng was able to get the ball away from Ricardo Clark and scored from about 16 yards off USA’s goalie Tim Howard. This put Ghana ahead early in the match. Continue Reading…
The 2010 NBA Draft took place on Thursday evening in New York City at Madison Square Gardens. The first pick of the night went to the Washington Wizards and they chose John Wall from Kentucky as their overall Number 1 draft pick of the night. Wall plays as point guard, weighs in at 195 lbs. and 6-foot-4, and was drafted out of the freshman class at Kentucky.
The Philadelphia 76ers was second to choose their draft pick, which they used to choose Evan Turner from the junior class at Ohio State. 6-foot-7 Turner plays as shooting guard. Turner will definitely be able to add some depth to the team that has long been needed. He is a top leader and scorer and will definitely help the 76ers to a win. Continue Reading…
Switzerland is known for their awesome defense but it seems that it wasn’t enough this time to take them to the next round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Sure, they had what it took to take out Spain in their opening game and defeat them but it wasn’t enough in the end.
In three games, Switzerland was only able to achieve a single goal and was unable to gain the advancement to the second round of the 2010 World Cup due to not being able to successfully claim a score in Friday’s game against Honduras at Free State Stadium. Continue Reading…
