MORE than 60% of GCSE students at The Heath School in Runcorn achieved five A*-C grades including English and maths.
At the school, 85 per cent of pupils performed better than expected in English compared with nationally past year (73 per cent).
An incredible 85 per cent of entries were graded A* and over 98 per cent were awarded A* or A.
"Our incredibly talented students have bucked the national trend with their hard work and have made us all extremely proud".
Nearly 50 per cent of students gained one or more A* and A grades and more than two thirds of students achieved the highest grades across all subjects.
The last ever GCSE results at William Bradford Academy saw on a par performances with previous year when it was the most improved school in Leicestershire.
In total, 77 per cent of students achieved the benchmark five A* - C grades including in English and Maths, 43 per cent of students achieved the academic English Baccalaureate and 31 per cent of grades were A*/A.

The highest performing GCSE courses were RE with 42 students secured A* grades, Computing with 100% of students achieving an A*-C grade and Biology, Chemistry and Physics which all saw over 90% of students entered achieving an A*-C grade.
David Simmons, the Chair of the Academy's Council said: "As an Academy that already has many areas of excellence in both teaching and examination results, these latest figures are an endorsement of our innovation and determination to be outstanding right across the curriculum".
Many students exceeded their expectations and the school is very proud of the good progress of students of all abilities.
